I installed Ultimate Member to have a look at it and then uninstalled it for use later. Now I cannot load my pages in Word Press, but they appear on the site. I am using Headway as a theme design. Please help me get my existing pages back! The error I’m getting is:

    Content Encoding Error

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

I can add a new page and my existing 17 pages show in the Dashboard, but I cannot get at them.

    Thanks

    Jane

PS I can’t get at my posts in WordPress either. Needless to say this is a major problem!

PPS I have just re-installed and activated Ultimate Member and my pages and posts have re-appeared, so the problem is definitely with the uninstall. How do I uninstall and keep my pages and posts?

The uninstall of UM does not delete any pages or posts I can assure you of that, it only deletes UM own pages. If this does not happen, you probably have a plugin/theme conflict.

But access to all my pages is lost when I uninstall and back again when I reinstalled. I want to uninstall your program and keep the rest of my site intact, how do I do that? It’s definitely messing up my WordPress install. It’s not the pages that are disappearing but access to them through the WordPress menu. Telling me that UM only deletes its own pages doesn’t solve the problem. I’m not saying it deletes the pages, it messes up my access to them. I need to know how to uninstall your program.

PS It happens when I just deactive as well.

    PPS

My installed and activated plugins are

    Headway
    Advanced Ads
    Advanced Ads – Ad Tracking
    Akismet
    Limit Login Attempts
    PayPal Donation Buttons and MailChimp
    Quform

Can I ask you to try doing the uninstall with other plugins temporarily deactivated and using the default WP15 theme? We’re just not sure on this one as we’ve had many many users do uninstalls and installs of UM and we have never had this issue raised before.

Which hosting company do you use?

    Thanks ??

    Hi

I deactivated all my plugins (except Headway0 and have managed to remove your plugin and keep access to my pages. It has left its own pages, but I can manually delete them. Other than that I think the problem is solved.

You therefore have a compatible issue with one of the following:

    Advanced Ads
    Advanced Ads – Ad Tracking
    Akismet
    Limit Login Attempts
    PayPal Donation Buttons and MailChimp
    Quform

    or 5quidhosting

I’ll let you know if I see anymore problems as I use the site today.

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll have a look into them and see if I can find which one conflicts with UM. Little bit of advise. I’d always recommend testing out new plugins on a test site first before adding them to your actual site. Just cause sitations like this do occur occasionally due to conflicts so always best practice to keep real site clean as possible. Thanks ??

Actually that’s exactly what I’m doing. But I’m learning WordPress at the same time and saw the last three weeks of work going down the pan.

Well that is a good start. Some people recommend making a backup before installing any new plugins or themes but this is probably best for live site rather than test site. ??

Thanks, if you find the problem could you let me know, so I can revist UM.
