Uninstalled within an hour

  • I was looking for just a simple plugin to show visitors some events in a calendar format, this plugin came with a gigantic boatload of nonsense with a billion settings and options to do things I just don’t need to do, and it wouldn’t show the one event I attempted to display.

    The simple act of adding an event, time and date etc, is so convoluted I couldn’t work out how to do it so that something actually displays in the calendar (the link for which I stumbled across while angrily attempting to work out how to use this plugin).

    The basic function of a calendar wouldn’t work no matter how much I tried, and the information to fix this was non-existent.

    If you want a massive plugin with a billion things you don’t need or want, and one that apparently doesn’t do its most basic function with any kind of simplicity or ease, then waste your time with this one for an hour before going with something far better. Or, just heed my warning and skip this one for something else.

  • Well, shoot. I’m honestly bummed out that you ran into a bunch of disappointment with the plugin and am sorry it wasn’t the right fit for you. We try to make the calendar as powerful and flexible as we can for a free offering — and sometimes settings that are indispensable for some folks are going to seem unnecessary to other. That’s a tough balance to strike, and while I think our intentions are good to offer the most possible in a free package, it’s clear that we failed you on that front. My apologies on behalf of all of us here at Modern Tribe.

    As far as the initial event not making it to the calendar, I agree that’s totally unacceptable. We do extensively test the plugin before each release, including against a number of popular themes, but it looks like something went awry in this specific case. If you’re able to share what theme you’re working with and the URL of your site, then we’d be happy to take a look. This isn’t something that’s being reported widespread, so that gives me a hunch there’s something we can isolate in your particular setup.
