• How do I uninstall 2.5? I am thinking of using 2.3 again because I have had way too many errors with this 2.5.

How do I uninstall this and reinstall my 2.3.

    Thanks!

We never had a previous version installed on this sever. See we have a few blogs all with 2.3 on different websites. Only this one did we try to install 2.5.

What will happen if I change this back to 2.3. Also what do I have to delete? And how do I do this, without messing up my database?

Generally speaking, you cannot “downgrade”. You must restore an older version of the database.

If you never had an older version of the database, then you must start over from scratch.

So, I can just take the older version say 2.3 which works beautifully on my other websites and install it on my current website? Starting from scratch that is?

Should I just delete the newer one I just installed on my server? How do I do this? What will it do to the current database I have created?

The database will not work with a 2.3 installation. That’s sort of my whole point.

You can erase 2.5, and erase the database, and start with 2.3.3, and that will work fine. Obviously. But the 2.5 database will not work with 2.3.3 at all, period.

So what you are saying is I have to delete the entire database? I am kind of confused. Would it be the database that was created for this 2.5 only, or what if I had created a database beforehand and then tried installing 2.5 and it does not want to work for me etc. And so now I want to delete 2.5 and install 2.3.

I have an existing database for all of my forumns, etc. Can I just reconfigure the new wordpress blog of 2.3 in my database and then just delete the 2.5 out of my directory? I cannot delete the entire database it has way too much!

    Thanks!

Did you not make a new database for WordPress? How did you attempt to install 2.5 if you didn’t make a database?

I mean, you are aware that WordPress uses a database, correct? If not, then no wonder you couldn’t get 2.5 working.

What I’m telling you is that the database which you made for 2.5 will not work with 2.3.3. Therefore you must remove it and create a 2.3.3 version instead.

So… what exactly is the complication here? Your questions just don’t make any sense. What did you do to install 2.5 that makes this difficult?

Ok. Sorry I do not completely understand what I am doing either. So I am at my site and went to phpMyAdmin. In here is there a way for me to change my username and password for my wordpress blog. I have 2.3 installed, but the problem is that I have no way of getting into the data base and making changes. It is loaded but no username, no password. I can get into phpMyAdmin but I am lost.

So how do I go about doing this? Do I delete everything again and start over but the same thing happens. I cannot ever get my user name and password.

Did you run the install procedure for WordPress? The install.php process? It actually displays your username and the automatically generated password during that procedure.

Or are you talking about the username/password for phpMyAdmin? That’s entirely different and something you create when you create the database.

What, exactly, did you do? Step by step. Please explain, because I do not understand what you’re asking or what you’re doing.

Generally, here’s how you install WordPress.
    1. Create a database.
    2. Upload WordPress’s files to your host via FTP.
    3. Modify wp-config.php to have your database login info which you created in step 1.
    4. Run the install.php process.

    What exactly are you doing?
