Uninstalling is faster & makes more sense
-
I quickly uninstalled this plugin, but not until I reached my limit with it. Sure, installation takes 2 minutes, just like with all plugins. It’s the rest that gets you.
- The plugin puts itself on this main level with the standard WP menu items (would be better inside Settings as a submenu item).
- Clicking on the menu item only takes you to a page that tells you to go elsewhere (widgets or a page — so really, the plugin doesn’t need to be on the top level of menus for this at all).
- Once you get to the widgets and add POWr’s widget to a sidebar or footer, it then sends you elsewhere yet again, this time to the front end of your site to complete it’s settings.
- BUT!! Even then, there’s no settings! There’s a link to — guess what? — go elsewhere YET AGAIN. This time, it’s OFF your own site into a new tab that load the plugin’s site with a settings page.
One single item isn’t so bad, but this equals total annoyance, and all for a simple countdown plugin which many of us will discard shortly after our end date.
On top of it all, you’ll have to content with obtrusive “logos and watermarks”, going off your own site to adjust settings, AND you’ll need to create an account on their site to do it! Again, all for a simple countdown plugin.
I’m sure I may have a small detail skewed here or there, but try it yourself and you’ll see. For all of this, for the first time ever in many years of using WP, I’m giving a plugin a single star and writing a negative review.
