Uninstalling & ReInstalling Plugin

About 2 weeks ago we started having problems with the plugin not being able to upload images from our media library. We have not changed the theme nor added any other new plugins.
I submitted a support request and the solution was to deactivate all plugins and switch themes. We can not do this fully as we have a large production site. I did deactivate many plugins, I did not switch the theme, and still not able to import from media library.
My only other option is to either uninstall the plugin and reinstall it, fully realizing I loose any galleries I already have. Not good, but acceptable if it fixes the problem. Or, uninstall and look for another solution.
One thing I would like to explore before I look for another solution is to the Pro version will fix it. I don’t mind spending the $, but only if it fixes the problem.
If I unstall and install witht the Pro version, would that be advisable?
It’s just weird that all of the sudden a couple weeks ago we are no longer able to import from our media library.
