Unique random coupon in email

I have create a snippet that generate a unique random coupon and a shortcode to create and display it.
I insert the shortcode in the welcome message and it works like a charm, but i want it in the welcome email and i can’t make it to work. How can I do it?
If I can’t use the shortcode, is it possible to display the last coupon created (it will be in this case the cupom created in the welcome message) in the welcome email?
