Universal Control

So as a musician building his first site, I would like what many pre-made Musician Themes are doing which is:

a group of songs residing in a player that can, of course, be stopped or started with that player – but also in the corner of all pages in the site is an additional pause and play button. The user can then listen to one of my songs while they, for example, peruse my blog on another page without the music being interrupted.

They can then use these additional cross-site universal buttons to skip to the next song in the playlist, stop, start, whatever. The point being that these universal controls are linked to the playlist and player that was originally executed.

So this is what I need. Like I’ve already said, a few of the good Musician Themes have this exact functionality but as I am creating my site with X-Theme, it looks like I need a plugin.
