    Hi.

I’m working on a new site and I have installed your plugins.

The problem is, since yesterday, many times when I click on menu items or other areas on the site, ad popups appears specially in mobile and I have no idea where they are comming from.

I can see the popup windos address starts with the speedometergreatness.com domain before it redirects to some random address with random ads.

I’ve tried scanning the site with antiwalware plugins like Wordfence with no avail.

I’ve tried with different browsers and computers, popup appears in all of them, so is it no my pc or mobile with the problem.

I hope someone can help with this, been working on this site for 15 days, starting over would kill me and I’m not sure if this thing would attack the site again.

    Hi Wahida,
I am sorry that you are experiencing this issue, but it is not caused by HD Quiz. No Harmonic Design plugin comes with any ads whatsoever and NEVER will. We also take security very seriously and have zero known vulnerabilities.

This is not something I can help you fix, but I can give you some advice.

NOTE: It is strongly recommended to make a full backup before doing any of the following – especially if you are not used to or familiar with these kinds of things.

    1) Check your .htaccess file to see if there is anything off with it. This is a place where malware and redirects can be hidden. Pay special attention to references to other domains or filenames.
    2) The fact that WordFence is not finding anything is good news. It means that the site itself is probably fine (be sure to run the “deep” scan though!). This means that the issue is either with your host or even possibly your own internet connection (your router could be the one with the malware). So I’d recommend contacting your host to see if they can do a scan.
    3) If your hosting account was hacked, then any plugin, theme, or core WordPress file could have been modified. Step 1, deactivate and delete all plugins and revert to the default twenty-twenty theme. Then from the dashboard -> updates, re-install WP by selecting the Re-install Now button. Now reinstall each plugin again. This should pretty much give you a fresh install of the site without losing any data and having to start over again. With a bit of luck it will have cleared out the infection, but if not, then once again, contact your host!

Thanks for you reply which is really awesome.

All the three p[oint mentioned by you are perfect.

But in my case point 3 works for me.

I apologize to doubt HD quiz for that issue. Actually it was another plugin called IQ Block Country which was the main culprit. I deactivate that plugin and deleted all files related to that removed all unwanted ads from my site.

So, I like Wordpess to take quick action against this plugin called IQ Block Country asap.

Spamming in the name of security.

    Hi Wahida,
I’m glad that you were able to track down the issue to another plugin. Just note that the WordPress team will likely not see your grievances with this other plugin so my recommendations are:

    1. Submit a negative review for that plugin to help warn other users
    2. Read this page (seriously, it has a lot of important information), then email the WordPress plugin team [email protected]
    3. Consider leaving a positive review for HD Quiz ??
