I have been using Photonic for some time now, I created a new blog post yesterday and embed a gallery form Zenfolio. I noticed an “unknown error” showing in place of the gallery and it looks like all my older articles are now showing the same error. I have updated the shortcode to custom one instead of the default gallery shortcode. I installed the plugin on another site to test and same results. Anyone else experiencing issues with Zenfolio galleries? I tested a Flickr gallery I have and it shows fine.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Can you provide an example of the shortcode you are using? I haven’t changed anything in the Zenfolio processor in over a year, so this is surprising (the galleries on my test page seem to be working fine).

I tried one with shortcode and one with the new builtin option and neither are working for me. Here’s the shortcode.

    [photonic type=’zenfolio’ view=’photosets’ object_id=’p735484217′ photoset_type=’Gallery’ layout=’square’ caption=’title’ thumb_size=’10’ main_size=’5′ columns=’6′ limit=’50’ ]

Nothing seems to be wrong with the shortcode. I am able to execute it and get results (a gallery called “Delta H Con 2018” with 543 photos).

One thing I did notice is that your site is running on HTTP instead of HTTPS. Not sure if that is causing a problem; Zenfolio switched to using HTTPS at the start of this year, and maybe there is some server level problem happening when your host is sending the request to Zenfolio.

When you are constructing the shortcode using the gallery builder interface, are you able to see a listing of your galleries?

Yes, I see all the galleries when using the builder interface. The article I did last month worked at that time but now all of them are resulting in the error. Thanks for your help @sayontan

OK. A few things may be happening:

    1. This may be a temporary glitch between your site and Zenfolio. If so, you might want to wait for a couple of days before retrying.
    2. This may be happening due to another plugin interfering with the communication between your site and Zenfolio. Some examples of such plugins are security plugins, or plugins that modify URLs by adding additional parameters. In case of Zenfolio if the URL gets modified, it does cause errors. If the previous step does not resolve the issue, I would suggest deactivating other plugins and verifying that it works. If it works with other plugins deactivated, start reactivating plugins one by one to see which one is conflicting, and let me know.
    3. If it doesn’t work after deactivating all other plugins, you might want to check with your host if there is some sort of filter being applied on outgoing HTTPS requests. In the worst case scenario, they might be able to provide you with information on what request headers are getting submitted to Zenfolio from your site.

I was wondering if it was another plugin, thats why I installed the plugin on another site that doesn’t use the same themes/plugins and same result. I check with the host to see if there is anything. Thanks.

Hmm… I can confirm that it works. Try out the demo links via the documentation. Let me know what you find from your host.

    (@valexv84)

@sayontan I am now seeing the “error” for group type on your demo page in your documentation too.

Here’s the screenshot of what yours looked like when it was down, look like it’s back up now. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UveqtnPEnA5qeSzwF_PsoaidGI831GAT/view?usp=sharing

Well, I didn’t do anything in the 15 minutes between your reporting the issue and it coming back up again! ??

Were you able to get any inputs from your host?

    Thread Starter valexv84

    (@valexv84)

At first, they said checke theme and your plugin, told them they are both up to daye and testing on another install of WordPress with same result. They are asking if there need to be any changes done to the plugin settings to fix this so that I could check on the server end?

I am also encountering this “Unknown error” problem with my website linking to my Zenfolio gallery through Photonic – example page. Shortcode: [gallery type='zenfolio' view='photosets' object_id='3561111127931613282' login_name='joetourist' main_size='6' layout='mosaic']

As with the OP, I am able to run your shortcode without issues.

Question: did either of you set up authentication via Photonic for Zenfolio?

Yes, I setup authentication for Zenfolio within Photonic: Photonic → Settings → Zenfolio → Zenfolio Photo Settings → Default user

Can you turn it off? Do things change?
