Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/SimplePie/Cache

    I got an alert to say that unknown files were found in a Wordfence scan:

    “High Severity Problems:

    * Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/SimplePie/Cache/403e03585e2e1e1ff28da4871867a2db.spc

    * Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/SimplePie/Cache/adf416701234bb74c7b67e4f1dc6eede.spc

    * Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-includes/SimplePie/Cache/ce35f0e1d09e3ed451a8b531d0483cc6.spc ”

    I can see a few people asking about simplepie.php files but these look different and I’m not really sure what to do about it them or if they are malicious. Can anyone shed any light on for me?

    Can you navigate to your Wordfence > Scan page and click on these results to expand them, then screenshot them and send them to wftest @ wordfence . com with subject ” krob92 for WFADAM ” so I can locate them.

    Thanks for sending those examples over! I had our QA team take a look at these files and they said they look to be false positives.

    @krob92 @edgarlarsen you should be able to just select “Ignore” for these results in the Wordfence > Scan page.

    I have the same problem and can see the files in File Manager, so it can’t be a false negative. Why exactly do I have SimplePie installed? Is it part of WordPress?

    Same problem with me. Please enlighten us about this.

    Same here. Any news on these SimplePie files?

    I deleted them but they are back again, so I set WF to ignore them.
