• When I recieve comments emailed to me, I get them from an unknown sender – which is making my email client mad. (It thinks its spam) how can I change what name this comes from?

Go to Options/Discussions and check the boxes that require a name and email address. The comments should then be mailed to you from the poster’s email address.

i started getting this error after i upgraded to 1.5.1. I tried using different themes to see if it was because of my theme but i still got the error. everything was working perfectly with 1.5. In options/discssions i have the boxes checked also.

i have had this same problem, i fixed it the first time i encountered it by making sure that my admin and user email was an email address from my host ([email protected]) as well as a hack i found somewhere on this site…..can’t seem to find it anywhere today.

To WALoeIII: i think you might also find that if you register yourself as a new user, that the email you get with your new random generated password would also be from a “unknown sender”.

If someone could point us to the correct previous discussion for correcting this problem…that would be nice, i know it’s there somewhere.

this seems to be something new with version 1.5.1…….as i cannot find the function wp-mail in the wp-includes/function.php…..it used to be there in version 1.5…..and this is where i made the necessary fix.

ok, so this must be an upgrade problem….i upgraded another site to 1.5.1 from 1.5 and applied pdyskoa€?s hack to the “function wp-mail” which has been moved to “wp-includes/pluggable_functions.php” in version 1.5.1. however his hack just fixes the “unknown sender” error for the registration email user’s are sent in version 1.5. it does not fix the “unknown sender” error for comments.

I am getting the blank sender too on emails of comment notifications.

    Any solutions yet?
