Unnecessary AJAX Requests

Thanks for contacting us! By default, the plugin makes AJAX calls to ensure the wishlist is always updated if caching is enabled. This can be helpful for providing a seamless user experience, but it can also cause unnecessary load on other AJAX requests on your site.

And yes, you can disable this feature. Please follow these steps:

1. Go to your WordPress dashboard.
2. Navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Wishlist.
3. Look for the option related to AJAX loading update and disable it.

In the future updates, we will improve this ajax request, so it won’t affect the loading time of the website.

I know how to disable the AJAX loading, but like you said this will cause Cache issues, anyway, I did not ask you how to stop this, I ask you how to Prevent the AJAX request until actualy is needed, for example to work only after something is added to the wishlist.

I alredy found another wishlist plugin which doing exactly that what I asked for, but I still use your, because is compatible with the theme which I use. If you like I can send you a link to the plugin from where you probably can get an idea – it’s free and is on wordpress repository.

But please I don’t want to change plugins, just make it work better, I’m sure that will be good for everyone not only me.

and Yes this plugin do everything what you mention in your post, but doing it when IS NEEDED, so not all the time only when the visitor actually add something in the Wishlist, and also what is even better with this plugin is that when you as a visitor REMOVE all of your added items from the Wishlist, it stops the AJAX calls until you add something new.

And another clue about this plugin – it uses 3 different types of AJAX operations, I don’t know what is the difference between them, I’m not developer, but the method “WP Loaded Hook” work best on my staging site ??

Additionally, we noticed this plugin seems to queue its AJAX request to run at the very end. This can actually delay the full page load compared to our approach, which prioritizes the wishlist request earlier on. Here are some screenshots:

In our testing, there are other things from this plugin that may affect website grade too: it loads more resources, no accessibility fallback, etc.

However, this plugin also offer interesting features too. We’ll consider these insights for potential future updates to balance functionality, user experience, and loading speed.

I agree with you, every Wishlist plugin do AJAX Calls to refresh the Products in Wishlist or some kind of Widget to prevent Cache issues, it’s normal.

But I’m in contact with the mentioned above plugin developer last week and he make it work even better for me, but the new changes will be included in the next update.

Anyway, where is the difference, if I disable your plugin anti Cache option, your plugin will not work properly at front end when the pages are Cached, but with this plugin which I mention in my previous post, with anti Cache option Disabled, still refresh the needed information around (Widget, Shortcode, Icons over Products, etc.), but it do it only when is needed. And what I mean is, if a visitor land directly on a page which is been Cached by someone else with an item in the Wishlist, only then the AJAX Call run and refresh whatever it should, but if the visitor open a page (Cached or not) without anything in the Wishlist, the AJAX Call not run at all. Also another example, if you add something to the wishlist and continue explore the website, changing pages looking around, whatever, every time when you change a page the AJAX Call will run, but if you remove anything from the wishlist, the ajax call will stop, no matter which page you visit will not run until you add a new thing to the Wishlist.

All of this is when the Cache protection of the plugin is disabled, but the Cache of the website is Enabled like ussual. I have no idea how this plugin do this, I’m not developer, but that’s why I gave you a link of it, because you are. Maybe is not a big difference, but this feature of the plugin help a lot for my very very slow website, because it’s a one job less….

And please I don’t want to argue with you. I’m sure you know much more than me and for sure the plugin is not perfect, no one is, but that’s my opinion as a normal user. Also I don’t want to promote the plugin, is not mine and I’m not related to it at all, but I wish this plugin to help yours with better progress.

And on the final, your plugin is fully compatible with my Theme, but because of everything what I wrote above, I switch to the new plugin and with few modifications by me, works correctly now with the Theme, so if you some day you make a similar behaivour in your plugin, I will more that happy to get back to it.

In the latest version, the AJAX request (/?wc-ajax=get_wishlist_fragments) has been optimized to only trigger one time for the first visit.
