    Hello,

    every time I create a variation of a product, like a bigger size, a duplicate of the product-image is created as well, although there is only one image for all sizes. This clutters (and slows down) the media-folder with dozens of copies of the same image: door-1.png, door-2.png, door-3.png etc.

    How can I

    a. tell WooCommerce to use the same image for all product variations?

    and

    b. how can I remove the duplicates that were created?

    This can be accomplished with a plugin that helps with multiple variation images. Do you use a particular plugin for this effect? Please let us knwo!

    It is odd that it is creating duplicates for every new product. You can go to WooCommerce > Products and remove the duplicates. If you have just WooCommerce active, and create a new variable product, does the same duplication occur?

    Images being added to new products aren’t the default functionality of WooCommerce and likely caused by something else. Typically issues like this are caused by a theme or plugin conflict. Try switching back to a default theme like Twenty Twenty and disable all plugins except for WooCommerce to see if this resolves the issue. Here is a link that better outlines that process:

    If this fixes the issue, then re-enable each plugin one at a time, then the theme, until you find the one that’s causing the conflict.
