Unsual problems After Upgrading to 2.7

    I’ve just upgraded to 2.7 after following the exact instructions in https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Upgrading_WordPress_Extended

    Everything was working fine in my blog before that and after upgrade, it looks fine too as you can see – https://www.jeetblog.com/

    However, here are the issues :-

    1. I can see the new interface but can’t access any new features. For example, I cannot drag and drop the boxes in the dashboard. I do not see a ” Screen options ” button on the top right. Also I cannot reply to any comment from the dashboard. In fact I do not find a reply button as it is shown in the launch video. There is no reply button on my comments panel. Basically I can’t find the new buttons like Screen Options, Quick Edit, Reply etc.

    2. When I click on edit posts and try to edit a particular post, it opens up the HTML layout of the post under the Visual tab. And when I try to click on the HTML tab, it does nothing.

    Initially I thought it to be browser problem but I have tried it in separate browsers and same issues everywhere. I’m still checking and I may come up with new problems. But as of now these are the issues which I am facing and if someone could explain me what’s going on, I’d be really grateful.

    Ok…after checking a few things I’ve found that this problem relates to Javascript or something like that. When I log in to my admin panel and after that check the Firefox Error Console, I found the following errors –
    Error: jQuery is not defined
    Source File: https://www.jeetblog.com/wp-includes/js/hoverIntent.js?ver=20081210
    Line: 128

    Error: jQuery is not defined
    Source File: https://www.jeetblog.com/wp-admin/js/common.js?ver=20081210
    Line: 132

    And many more such errors. I’m not sure what’s the matter. I reinstalled Java on my system and still it gives the same issues. Something else must be wrong.

    Make certain that you uploaded all the files to your website.

    And don’t use an automatic upgrade plugin. Do it manually.

    Yes, I did it manually. I think I’ll go ahead and do it again. Lets see.

    Just checked all the files that I′ve uploaded. Looks fine to me…

    I′m using Firefox 3 and I′ve uploaded everything with FileZilla

    Ok, the problem is resolved for me now.

    fabiofiss – I also use Filezilla and everything looked fine to me. But here’s what I did:-

    1. Deleted wp-includes.
    2. Then dragged the wp-includes from wordpress folder in desktop and dropped it into my blog’s interface in Filezilla.
    3. Once the above was done, I repeated the same steps with wp-admin.

    So it appears that previously while uploading, Filezilla might have missed some files or content. I suggest you to go ahead and try out the steps which I tried. Hopefully it gets resolved for you too. If it does, report back here and I’ll change the status to resolved.

    Regarding #2 – My posts stay in html format. When clicking on visual my page is completely blank, is this the same issue? I didn’t have any problems with my upgrade.

    Regretful Morning – I’m not sure. I think this may not be the same issue but even then if you want you could go ahead and try out the steps which I mentioned in the previous post and see if it gets resolved.

    I’m experiencing an error when I try to access the Widgets. When I click on Appearance and then Widets, the Widgets screen is blank. That’s the only problem I’m experiencing.

    My Add New Post page is showing up blank. I tried the steps above and the same thing happens.

    abhim12 — I replaced my “wp-includes” folder, too, and the Dashboard widgets are working. Woo-hoo! They worked when I first upgraded to 2.7, but stopped after activating my plugins, which made me suspicious. I deactivated all of my plugins before replacing my “wp-includes” folder. Once the Dashboard was working like it was supposed to, I activated each plugin one at a time, each time checking that the Dashboard still worked.
