unsubscribe_url is not working since the last updates.

A few days ago I sent an email campaign and it seemed strange that no one unsubscribed. Then I tried the link generated in the emails and it sent me to my home page. That is, the link is generated but it does not work.

    This is the error log:

    2024/02/28 18:43:14 [error] 862#862: *13717 upstream prematurely closed FastCGI request while reading upstream, client: 154.454.541, server: mydomain.com, request: "GET /?noptin_ns=email_open&nv=X82D7OSrNL1WwKttOZiUItVSlcWx0f89UQJa_jzrpJSKwwtSFfSqvKRnivHV6IOVidJZvHkD5Gx_Ggs3QfRRD5eqdFCIbk4JAatYX3cRvkGaHYG5Arwv.1ipCY0gBbtq HTTP/2.0", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/var/run/php/php80-two-fpm.sock:", host: "mydomain.com", referrer: "https://outlook.live.com/"

    Hi,

Do open and click stats show? Or are they all zeros?

Also let us know if you have a multi-lingual plugin on your site so that we can test with it. Most tend to redirect URLs that don’t have a language to the homepage.

If possible, include a sample unsubscribe URL in your reply. You can replace your website’s name with example.com

    Hi!

Yes, open and click stats show up.

    I have WPML.

This is an example of the unsuscribe URL:

    https://example.com/?noptin_ns=email_click&nv=HNp6dtecwChkkFoajKyZIToAf2TwBUVr5XAhmzwFJjEbyB1Lf.fjlNr9cMPZZRx8FM.xnIFkBjaUCSJB0MpPxmhpAJvy54YoObO.jzGKOm3M0_iu6e4TkOVDF9j_kB98

I already have the redirection disabled.

The unsubscribe link always worked for me, but in the last email it stopped working. That’s why I thought maybe it had to do with a recent plugin update.

The only new plugin I added was WP Security, but if I disable it, nothing changes either.

I just checked and the links from old emails I sent are still working. That is, the website is not redirecting. The problem is in the link generated with the latest versions of the plugin.

Now it’s working again. I’m not sure if it was fixed with the latest update or if something changed on my site. Thank you anyway!

Oh wait… it hasn’t been resolved yet.

But I’ve realized what the origin of the problem is.

For some reason, some emails are sent with the unsubscribe link like this (they don’t work): https://example.com/?noptin_ns=email_click&nv=HNp6d (etc).

While others are sent like this (and they do work): https://example.com/?noptin_ns=unsubscribe&nv=K4Q0N (etc).

The one that doesn’t work says “noptin_ns=email_click,” and the one that works says “noptin_ns=unsubscribe.”

Most emails are sent with “noptin_ns=email_click.”

    Hi @bendur95,

Are both links generated from the same campaign ( or campaign type )? Could you also forward a sample campaign with a broken unsubscribe link and another with a working unsubscribe link to brian at noptin.com so that I can take a look?

Finally, click on the broken unsubscribe link and then visit Noptin > Subscribers > The email recipient > Activity and check the URL that was logged as having been clicked.

    Hi Brian!

Yes, It’s same campaign type. I just sent you the emails.

After clicking the broken link, there’s no activity log of clicking. Only the open email log.

    Hi Benjamin,

I was able to track the issue using the emails you forwarded and will release a fix today.

    Thanks.
