Heya guys, been using MailPoet a while now and I am cleaning up my subscriber list and unconfirmed subscribers.

I was curious what subscribers were seeing once they filled in their emails and clicked subscribe.

After testing I wanted to delete my test user and decided to unsubscribe instead of just deleting the myself from the list.

Now, under the welcome email I got, I clicked “Edit your subscription” and I was directed to the “Edit your subscriber profile” on my website.

At the Status I made sure the Unsubscribed button was selected and I clicked on Save.

And although the unsubscribe works, the page returns an error to me:

WordPress database error: [Illegal mix of collations (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci,COERCIBLE) for operation ‘=’]

    Why is that?

    Adventurous greetings,
    Coen

  • Hi there, I’m not the plugin author, so I don’t know the cause, but what about creating your own “Unsubscribe page” (Settings > Basics)? This way, you could probably get away with this database error showing up?

The collation specified on your wp-config.php is different than the one from your tables.

Thank you for that, but what do I do about it or how do I fix it?
