• The interface… Why? It’s so awkward to just type a couple of lines and give them the right label. By far the worst “visual editor” I have ever used.

Hi @gonzalowilliams and @petschko are you able to provide more information about your experiences, this might help the developers.

Is there anything that can be done to improve the Gutenberg plugin?

@thelmachido I have indeed an idea for an improvement! I dont want to rant and give an idea:

Problem: You just want to write text, but the editor is complex for simple writing.
Suggested solution: You could may build in a “Switch” for the editor-mode, were you can just simply write text with a WYSIWYG-Editor.

Basically giving the option to switch to WYSIWYG <-> Block-Editor – So you cover both use cases!

Hi I see @petschko is another option to switch between the Classic and Gutenberg editor. If you have the two plugins active, you can go to Settings > Writing to enable the option to Allow users to switch editors.

You will then be able to use page settings to switch between the classic and block editors as shown in this short video.

Alternatively, I sometimes using the Classic Editor block when I editing content on the block editor.

I am not sure if this helps, if you were thinking of something different please let me know.

@thelmachido while that is a good start, the option is a bit very hidden. I would suggest make it a bit more prominent, like activated by default and not this hidden in a (…) Menu.

Sadly its just a HTML-Code Editor. The “Writing” mode should be just like the classic Editor (A WYSIWYG Editor), as thats what you usually need when you want to just write. You dont want to mess with HTML-Code

Hey @petschko, you can deactivate the block editor for forums & reviews under your profile settings, as explained in here.

You can opt-out of the block editor completely in your forum profile settings, by checking the “Disable the Block Editor for new topics and replies” box, as seen below:

Screenshot of the www.ads-software.com forum profile settings, highlighting the "Disable he Block Editor for new topics and replies" checkbox.
