Unusual Archive Structure

I love some direction on how to approach this.

The archive structure I am looking to impliment is simple in concept but seems tricky inplemintation (I don’t often mess with archives). It would look something like this. List of Authors on Archive page, clicking an author’s name gets you to an author post archive paginated by day of posting, not quantity of posts.

I am not looking for copy and paste code (not that I wouldn’t take it) so much as I am direction.

Any thoughts would be helpful.
