    Hello,

It seems that Yoast has left a permanent 301 redirect on my site, even after disabling and deleting the plugin. I have a different plugin that I use for sitemaps that unfortunately does not work with this redirect in place.

The redirect is from https://neweden.news/sitemap.xml to https://neweden.news/sitemap_index.xml.

I’m just a designer, not a developer, and have no idea how to fix this issue. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Hi @chipperofwood,

That is strange. We see that there’s still a redirect, but it doesn’t show the usual redirect headers that we would expect to see.

    1. Does clearing your cache from caching plugins, the server, a CDN like Cloudflare, or the browser resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear the cache from a plugin, please contact the plugin author. If you’d like to clear the cache from the server, please speak to your host provider. To clear the cache from a browser, use this guide:?How to clear my browser’s cache?.

    2. Does this problem occur if you use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to temporarily disable all other plugins and switch to a default theme such as?Twenty Nineteen? We have additional information on how to check for a conflict on a staging site or on a production site without affecting site visitors here:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

    Hi Priscilla,

Thanks so much for the swift response.

I disabled all plugins, reset the cache, but the redirect was still active.
After that, I switched to the Twenty Twenty-One theme, but the redirect persisted.

I also tried to use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, but Troubleshooting mode was unable to activate for some vague reason.

I’ll get in contact with my hosting service now to see if they can clear the server cache. I don’t use any CDN service so I’m not fully sure what else to do at this point.

    Hi @chipperofwood ,

We are sorry to hear that the issue persisted. We also suggest having your hosting provider check if there’s a redirect on your .htaccess file.

    Hello again,

I’ve had no luck with clearing my server cache. I’m hosted on an nginx server, so I don’t have an .htaccess file, as far as I’m aware.

I have a brand new wordpress site, https://netforge.design, that came pre-installed with Yoast from EasyWP. It seem the issue is happening on that site as well, even after disable and deleting the plugin.

I’m personally at a loss in regards to what I should do. Any further advice would be appreciated.
