Unwanted Automatic Title Appending

  • I am having an Issue where my website via Word press is having strange occurrence’s when titling pages.
    EXAMPLE
    I type REGISTER NOW then I hit save draft and it will apparently add the word TODAY to the end of it.

    so my page title ends up reading
    REGISTER NOW TODAY.

    yet I never typed TODAY.
    THIS NOT occurring anywhere else but the title bar
    but not in all instances.

    I have looked for some sign of this thru the plugins but this is uncertain as I don’t recall any plugin that would cause the problem.

  • Try deactivating your plugins and switching to the default (twentytwelve) theme. If it stops doing that, reverse your steps one by one to see what’s causing that.

    I have gone thru and deactivated every possible plugin and I cant switch to the default theme its not something that the department heads at Salem would allow as stated before what is occurring is something in the Naming of the post and pages it might be named “MY FAVORITE PAGE” but when you hit publish it becomes “MY FAVORITE PAGE TODAY”
    this occurred probably bout 4 weeks ago maybe 5 but it hasn’t been occurring that long it only is happening at the subpage level top level pages don’t display this behavior it doesn’t seem to be a bug because all scans come back negative I am at a loss what to do next the integrity of the site has not been compromised because our host has assured us this is not the case they would turn us off in a heartbeat if this was the case if there was any rouge code discovered. our host is very aggressive with protecting it clients. and I and those under me are very strict with the programing of the site.

    any input would be greatly appreciated

    If you can’t switch themes, don’t know what else to suggest. Since you’re using a commercial theme, perhaps Elegant Themes can help you.

    Got one of my programmers to look at the programming with me and we have found out that it is an issue where if i make the page a full page rather than default this is when the word TODAY appends itself to the title when I default the layout the TODAY vanishes we have determined that it was a plugin that started this behavior but it was removed because the plugin was not what we wanted. however i believe it left a remnant command line. which we need to eradicate from the site. I iam hoping that we do not need to re install the theme if this is possibly the solution I am hoping our customization’s don’t get undone.
