Unwanted code added to text

  • I’m getting code added to my page postings. It’s easily hundreds of lines of code, repeating itself, see below. It only shows in Text mode and from what I can tell doesn’t show when published. I delete it but it shows up again after I hit save.

    What is this and how can I get rid of it?

    Get a fresh cup of coffee, take a deep breath and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

    If you’re unable to clean your site(s) successfully, there are reputable organizations that can clean your sites for you. Sucuri and Wordfence are a couple.

    Grrrr. Still? This past month I’ve been rebuilding my site after having completely deleting and reloading it.

    I am using WordFence (free version) and scan every few hours. It’s been giving me a clean slate for the past 2-3 weeks. Not so?

    Well, the stuff *might* be the result of some plugin, so attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.
