Unwanted popup

  • I cannot get rid of an ad that mysteriously appeared on my dashboard a few days ago. There is a title “HI THERE! Here to help you. wordpress experts at your service,”, the picture of a guy, space for a message, and no way to turn it off or dismiss. It is very annoying covers part of the dashboard in the lower right corner of the screen. What can I do?

  • Deactivate all plugins as a test. Does it disappear then? Then one of the plugins was to blame and you would have to reactivate them individually to find out which one is responsible.

    Thank you very much. I disabled all plugins and the ad did indeed disappear. Now I am reenabling them one by one, getting rid of the ones I think I don’t need anyway (you know I am really a rookie so inserted some plugins in the process of building the site without actually using them) and until now the ad has not popped out yet. Thanks a lot.
