My client uses a Twenty Ten child theme that was created by me six years ago and hasn’t been updated since (client’s choice in not wanting to pay update costs). It now appears she’s facing problems when she updates her plugins and WP.

In her latest WP update, her site began showing unwanted widgets in her sidebar and not showing those she has specifically designated. I’m not quite sure what alterations she’s made and don’t know where to start looking.

Anyone have suggestions? Here’s her site.

Those are the default widgets that theme uses if there are no widgets assigned to the sidebar. Have her drop in an empty text widget and they’ll go away.

Thanks Steve for your suggestion. That’s what I suspected, however I’m unable to get rid of them. I tried your suggestion. I removed my client’s original Text widgets and replaced it with a blank Text widget. No luck. I then removed all widgets. No luck. I replaced her original widgets.

On her home page (Post) she has her sidebar setting to the Home sidebar. On the Home sidebar widget, she has it set to show other sidebars (other than default?).

    Check sidebar*.php in theme’s directory.
