I updated the WP plugin to 1.9. Now, I’m not able use the plugin.

    – My Stories – shows no stories and just has ‘Please wait…’ msg
    – Explore Templates – shows no templates and just has ‘Please wait…’ msg
    – All Stories – shows list of stories, edit does not work. Quick Edit and Preview work.
    – Add New – does not create new story and just has ‘Please wait…’ msg
    – Setting – shows nothing and just has ‘Please wait…’ msg

From previous updates, we determined it was the theme interfering with the plugin.

Instead of replacing the entire theme, how can I troubleshoot to find where the theme is causing the problems, or where the plugin and theme collide. It may be that I can simply remove the offending theme roadblock and not have to replace entire theme.

    Thoughts.

  • Hi Terry,

    Thanks for getting in touch!

Can you check and see if you are able to load Web Stories in Chrome incognito? Can you also please share your Site Health information privately via this form?

I do see your previous topic about a similar issue with a previous release and a possible conflict with your theme.

This kind of troubleshooting can get pretty complicated and technical, so it’s best to contact your theme developer to see if they can help, as they know their theme’s code and where possible conflicts could exist. That said, I’m happy to take a look at your site with the info I requested above and see if there could be something else going on here.

    Thanks!

Thank you @shetheliving…I have submitted the form with all the data.

Thanks for sharing that info, Terry!

I don’t see anything in your Site Health info that could be causing the issues that you’re seeing. I think the best next step here would be for you to contact your theme developer to see if they can take a look. I’m sorry we can’t be of more assistance here.

@shetheliving – thank you for taking a look.

Quick question…clearly I need a new theme. However, how will I know that any new theme I implement will be compatible with the plugin?

Is there any ‘compatible’ requirements I should look for? I see themes that say WooCommerce compatible. Is there a way to tell/know without trying 12 themes to find the one that works with the plugin?

    Terry

    Hi @terrymiddleton,

The best approach would be to test the themes that you’re interested in on a staging site so that your “live” site won’t be affected. Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy list of what themes and plugins are compatible with each other. WooCommerce is a very complex one, which is why some themes call it out in particular.

    Hope this helps!
