Update 3.1.0 not working with WP 5.2.2

    WordPress 5.2.2, A-Z Listing 3.1.0.
    After Update to 3.1.0 shortcode in page works for the preview. When I save the page, the page is no longer/not available in frontend. That’s somehow spooky.
    Already reset, re-updated, used differnet and newly created pages … doesn’t help.

    Who has an idea?

    There might be some information in your server’s error_log file that could indicate what the issue is. You’re right that it’s really strange to work in preview but then fail once published. Hopefully we can find the problem together…

    Well, Daniel, I had a look a the server log but nothing unexpected there. I recorded my attempts to solve the problem but nothing else … but nayway I will investigate further on, if you got some ideas or findings I would be glad if you share them …

    Can you try temporarily turning on WP_DEBUG and WP_DEBUG_LOG (https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/) and reproduce the issue before turning it off again to see if there’s anything that is being sneaky and hiding from the logs by default?

    Please make sure you don’t leave it turned-on for your publicly accessible website, because it could leak information that may help someone with nefarious ideas, so it’s best to be safe

    Now I used the debug mode but either get a warning nor a fatal error: again the page (which is published) or whatever is displayed with the notice:

    the page doesn’t seem to exist for WP because the usually in the backend menue available “Edit page” doesn’t appear but “New” as if the page isn’t existing (for the frontend).

    I used the [a-z listing] pure short code and others. always the same outcome.

    As a quick diagnostic, can you edit the post with the shortcode that isn’t currently working and replace the shortcode with arbitrary text and save. If the page doesn’t show up even when the shortcode is removed then there is likely something more at play..

    I didn’t touch the page since two weeks. Before I already tested it with just a plian page which worked back then.

    Well, now to my suprice the code seems to work right again …???? That’s vitual healing I would say, because I didn’t change anything but WP was updated to 5.2.3 …

    So, bynow everything is OK but I’m still ?on guard?.

    hmm, that’s really freaky. I’m at a loss to explain what the problem might be…
