    Hiya,

About an hour ago I ran the Sept 12th 2014 update, v3.8.3, and my site crashed immediately.

At first it seemed only to block wp-admin access, but then I saw that the whole site was failing to load – seemingly partially on Firefox (could’ve been cached), but wholly failing on Chrome.

I have since disabled the whole plugin from the back end, and have restored access, and the site loads fine.
So I know the All-in-one-WP to be the cause.

Sorry I can’t be more specific. I hope someome smarter than me can pinpoint the cause for you.

Just to let you know that there’s a problem.
    Cheers,
    Fled.

Hi Fled, so many have already installed version 3.8.3 without any problems.

I suspect that the new version might be clashing with one of your plugins. What you can try is this, deactivate all your other plugins, update this plugin to version 3.8.3 or install it if you have removed it. Then activate one by one your other plugins and at the same time checking to see which plugin it is clashing with.

Let us know how you go.

    @fledderjohn,
We made changes to some firewall rules regarding the pingback protection feature. Did you have this feature enabled by any chance?
If so, try activating the plugin again and then FTP to your host and grab the .htaccess file and delete the code between and including the following tags:
    #AIOWPS_PINGBACK_HTACCESS_RULES_START
    #AIOWPS_PINGBACK_HTACCESS_RULES_END

Then put the file back onto your server and see if the problem goes away.
If it does the you should leave that feature deactivated, ie, go to your firewall settings and deactivate the pingback protection feature.

Following on from my last response:
If the above steps do not solve your problem, try deleting all of the AIOWPS firewall rules from your .htaccess file, ie, delete all code between and including the tags:
    # BEGIN All In One WP Security
    # END All In One WP Security

Then try logging back in to your site. If all is ok, go to the AIOWPS “Settings” menu and click the “disable all firewall rules” button.

Then enable any firewall rules one-by-one, testing your site at each instance, to see which rule (if any) is causing the problem.

    Thanks guys!

It looks to me like the SP Client Project & Document Manager plugin was the culprit. When I disabled it, WP Security works fine.
And I recall it was one of the last updates I ran just before the crash.
    Version 2.3.7, Premium Version: 3.0.7.6.

The strange thing is: I have both plug-ins enabled now, and everything is fine. Isn’t that strange?
Could it be that the actual updating of that plugin caused the conflict, but not just running the plugins together?
If so, might I expect this to happen again when I update, or am I just postulating/ talking bilge?

Hi Fled, that is good to know that you found the plugins that caused the conflict.

    In regards to your comment….

It looks to me like the SP Client Project & Document Manager plugin was the culprit.

Have you spoken to the plugins developers in regards to the issue you experienced?

In regards to the following question.

If so, might I expect this to happen again when I update, or am I just postulating/ talking bilge?

This will only happen again if the plugins have some inconsistent bug. However when running too many different plugins sometimes one or more will clash.

One of my golden rules is always test all plugins in a test environment. This has helped me many times avoid issues.

If you need more assistant please let us know.

If your issue is resolved could you mark this support thread as resolved.

    Thank you

    Thanks mbrsolution and wpsolutions.
I’ll pass those thoughts onto the SP Doc Manager developers.
Thank you for your swift and effective help.
    Fled.
