• Hello, just updated to 3.3.1, and am trying to insert images into a post. When I try to open a photo in my media library (by clicking “open”) to access the insert-image-into-post button, nothing is happening. It is like the link is dead. Any help would be very appreciated!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Thanks! Twenty 11 works, my theme does not. Will try your other suggestions. Cheers!

OK, none of those things have resolved my problem except using the default theme.
Still unable to open a photo from the insert pop-up menu.

From within a post, I click the Upload/Insert button. The add media window opens, I select “media library”, my list of photos shows up, I select the photo I want to insert by selecting “show” and all that happens is the backgrounded post (behind the pop-up window) scrolls down each time I click “open”. Very odd.

None of the other things are the problem, you’ve already established that it’s the theme, either needs to be updated or you’d have to trace down the issue yourself, which I wouldn’t reccomend bothering with. You may be stuck without images as long as you use this theme
    ??

I’m using Weaver 2010 theme…use it a lot. Chrome & Firefox are basically ignoring MY efforts to link images…nothing I try seems to make a difference and I’m seeing this issue UNTIL:

I ADDED THE LINK IN HTML VIEW. (Was able to use the “add media” button in that view.)

Try it and let me know if it works for you.

I need to stick with the theme I am using for now, and I need access to inserting photos. I would rather use old WP. Any way to get hold of older versions? (I made the classic mistake of updating without backing up.)

Not sure if this is still an issue for most, but I recently went through ALL the steps in this and other forum posts to get image library & uploader issue corrected. For me, it turned out to a 3rd party plug-in that was using Facebook connect features. I’d seen this mentioned in another forum post and gave it a try – BOOM! Everything works again.

When I “deactivated” it, I was able to use the media uploader, but had to completely delete it to get my on page post / product image manager pop-up to work again (using WP Ecommerce).

So…if you have any plugins using Facebook connect features, try to deactivating &/or deleting the plugin to see if it corrects the issue.

Hope this helps what was a VERY frustrating issue.

Problem: ‘Upload media’ button not working; ‘Featured image’ link not woking
What happens when I click them? Nothing

Installation: WordPress 3.3.1, fresh upload, new site
Affected themes: TwentyTen, TwentyEleven, among others
    Plugins: None

    Observation:

If I scroll down far to the bottom of the page, I see a small corner of the ‘Upload media’ pop-up window on the left side. I cannot scroll any further left. In other words, the pop-up window is appearing far outside the viewable area of the screen, and it is inaccessible.

Also, in the web developer console in Firefox, many errors appear when I click on ‘Upload media’ that are associated with color-fresh.css in wp-admin. (Example: “Error in parsing value for ‘white-space.’ Declaration dropped.”)

    Does anyone have any suggestions?
