Update: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com

  • When I try to get new plugins from the WP Plugin page, I get have had the following error since days ago.

    An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.

    I read in some posts that I need to “replace wp-includes/update.php after downloading a fresh WordPress zip from here : https://www.ads-software.com/download/ That should help fix it.”

    Unfortunately it didn’t… So I looked at the code in the update.php file and noted that two web links are prevalent in the file. I copy-pasted them into my browser in turn and got surprising results:
    api.www.ads-software.com/plugins/update-check/1.1/ – returns the words “error”; and
    api.www.ads-software.com/core/version-check/1.7/ – returns some test that appears to be some sort of code.

    My conclusion – there is something wrong with www.ads-software.com!
