    Hi everyone,
I have detected a “phantom” word in the element to my Update and Save Draft Key. I am unable to publish or save a draft without it eliminating all but the first few words of the post, usually the header. This problem began when I uploaded Tinymce. The word “disabled” disappears and reappears. I had to hover over it to finally catch it. IT was like waiting to stab a minnow with a dinner fork. The young man who developed Tinymce was in communication with me at first but then never answered my Emails to him.
I was finally able to copy the element:
    <input name=”save” type=”submit” class=”button-primary” id=”publish” tabindex=”5″ accesskey=”p” value=”Update” disabled=””>
My Them is Admired/ My site is Yaroos.com I just upgraded to 3.5 though the problem began when I was running 3.1
I eliminated tinymce but and shut off all the other plugins as well but nothing has alleviated the issue. I would sure appreciate anyone’s insight into this. Thank you, Joe Taylor, [sig moderated as per the Forum Rules]

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Thanks for responding ESMI,
Yes, I deactivated all of them when the problem started, and the problem persisted without the plugins. Interestingly, just on a hunch, I changed the “p” to “post” and I was able to start updating again. All seems well for the moment, but I am going to try your Twenty Eleven suggestion as well as the last two. I have to research the “how to” of them as I am not familiar with these procedures, but try them I will. Better to blast the problem from all angles I’d say.
Once I do them, I’ll let you know. I’ll also let you know if my node change held. I’m about to log on now. Thanks for your input. Will write soon. Joe T

Follow up: Phantom is there and problem has returned. I will start working on your suggested repairs. Thanks.

    Hi ESMI
Well, at long last we’ve found the problem. It turns out that the issue is a result of switching from html to visual when editing. Somehow there’s a bug that creates this problem when you do this. We eliminated all unused plug-ins but also stopped moving back and forth between these two modes. Now I only edit in html and haven’t lost a post since. IT turns out there’s a whole seperate thread about this, though it was my friend who found it and I can’t tell you where it is here.

We tried all of your solutions. Taking down the site and reinstalling wordpress helped for about two hours but the problem came back with the switching back and forth.

Thanks for your input and sorry it took so long to complete this thread, but it took us that long to work it out.
All the best, Joe Taylor, Yaroos.com
PS: The problem began when I downloaded Tinymce and some on the other thread seem to make the same association between Tinymce and this problem.

Issue resolved (at least until they figure out what the root cause of this issue is)
