    Hello @generosus,

I discussed the case with our System Architects and they confirmed that we would implement QUIC at some point in the future, however, currently they cannot confirm when it would happen.

Once it is enabled on the server, we would also consider implementing additional optimizations related to the QUIC protocol in the SG Optimizer plugin as well.

    Best regards,
    Daniela Ivanova

    Hi @daniellaivanova,

Why the delay? Can you be more specific? Your blog (UPDATE box) states the following:

Once the HTTP/3 support for NGINX reaches a stable version, WE WILL APPLY IT IMMEDIATELY and publish a new blog post with more details on it!

Helpful Tips for SG’s System Architects:

    1. NGINX now officially supports HTTP/3 with QUIC. Supported with the release of NGINX V1.25.1 (stable version, released June 13, 2023).
    2. How to enable HTTP/3 with QUIC on NGINX.

    Thank you ??

Correction: NGINX V1.25.1 is a Mainline version, not a Stable version.

Additional Helpful Tips for SG’s System Architects:

    3. NGINX recommends using the Mainline version (not Stable version) of their software. Going forward, once implemented, the Mainline version will give SG a chance to receive real-time feedback from customers without penalties. Also, please keep in mind the following statement from NGINX’s System Architects:

Note that stable does not mean more reliable or more bug?free. In fact, the mainline is generally regarded as more reliable because we port all bug fixes to it, and not just critical fixes as for the stable branch. On the other hand, changes in the stable branch are very unlikely to affect third?party modules. We don’t make the same commitment concerning the mainline, where new features can affect the operation of third?party modules.

    4. Latest NGINX Mainline version is V1.25.2

Hope this helps. Looking forward to your implementation of HTTP/3 with QUIC.

    Thank you ??

    Hello @generosus ,

I regret to inform you that at this juncture, we’re unable to provide further information on the topic. Rest assured, we will keep you informed about our progress and update this thread once the implementation is finalized.

I understand that this might not be the response you were hoping for. Please know that we’ve relayed your request to our System Administrators and WordPress developers. As soon as there’s progress in this regard, we’ll be sure to share an update here.

    Best regards,

    Hi @georgiganchev,

WIth all due respect, still wondering why SiteGround cannot provide a specific answer for the delay.

    The solution is quite simple:

    1. Implement HTTP/3 (QUIC) into your servers using NGINX V1.25.2 or higher (Mainline).
    2. Create a code block that will separate HTTP/3 (QUIC) from HTTP/2.
    3. Phase I (SG Customers Only): Add a new sub-section to Site Tools (under “Speed”), titled “HTTP Prioritization”. The new sub-section can look like this. With the new “toggle switch”, customers experiencing an issue with HTTP/3 and third-party code (e.g., plugins) can simply turn it off.
    4. Phase II (Public): Integrate 3 above (equivalent) into SGO. Something like this.

Heck, if Cloudflare can do it, so can SiteGround, right?

Last, if it helps further, we’ll be glad to volunteer our website for testing.

    Thank you.

    Hello @generosus,

We have further deliberated on the matter.

Indeed, it has been some time since we announced that QUIC would be implemented and that an update would follow. However, no further information has been provided since then.

As you are aware, SiteGround is not just a hosting company. We offer a multitude of additional services and consistently strive to deliver high-quality, reliable services to our clients.

Before we release a new service or update, we need to ensure that it will not negatively impact any of our existing services. The process of testing and ensuring compatibility with all SiteGround services and features is complex and time-consuming. We have already initiated this process and encountered some issues that require further attention before we can proceed with enabling this service.

I want to assure you that we are diligently working on this matter. However, due to the complexities involved and the potential impact on many other services, we are unable to provide an ETA for when we will reach the final stage of enabling the service for all our clients.

Furthermore, as this query is strictly server-related, it would be more appropriate to post it on the SiteGround help desk. This forum is specifically for discussing the Optimizer plugin and its functionalities. Discussing our hosting features here could be considered a violation of the rules.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Best Regards,
    Elena

    Hi @elenachavdarova,

Thank you for the informaiton. We’ll close this topic as “Resolved” soon after HTTP/3 (QUIC) is implemented via SG Optimizer, Site Tools, or other means.

    Cheers ??
