UPDATE BREAKS PAGE

  • When I updated from 1.3.35 to 1.3.44 the page breaks because it *appears* you removed DISPLAY NAME and replaced it with NICKNAME.

    So how do I transfer all the old DISPLAY NAMES into NICKNAMES and how do I make NICKNAMES appear on the MEMBER page?

    This is VERY VERY FRUSTRATING. I wrote to support but they didn’t write back.

    Hi Aratha,

    Yes the display name field was removed and we added in a nickname field. This was because we incorrectly created a display name field when UM was first created. When WordPress itself does not have a display name field but rather allows an admin to set the display name of a user as either: first + last name, username or nickname.

    Apologies for the issue this has caused by making this change but it was an important change to make so UM was aligned to WordPress better.

    So you need to go to UM settings > User tab and select what field type (username, first + last name or nickname) you want to be the display name.

    I don’t see any tickets in our system relating to this subject. You should have received an auto reply letting you know we received the ticket.

    If you trying using a gmail email when submitting a ticket it should be fine. Sometimes delivery issues can happen when using own domain email addresses.

    Did you send out a note to all users about this? It is a HUGE problem for me with no warning! You should have told us.

    I sent a ticket yesterday. This is the second time your ticket system has not worked as I received no notification of the ticket having been sent and neither did you. I expect I’m not the only one with this problem.

    I will try and fix this according to your instructions, thank you.

    Ok, so I managed the update but the site is showing usernames/nicknames instead of the names that were in DISPLAY NAMES.

    How do I copy ALL the DISPLAY NAMES over to the NICKNAME field? But… not those who have already updated their NICKNAME.

    There are several thousand on the site so I can’t do it by hand so how do I do it?
