• Which apparently, I cant download as the hundreds of dollars i spent on them, entitled me to a 1 year of updates only.

To break the paid version because of a new free main part, which updates virtually automatically on my site… changes that position from having paid for 1 year of updates only… to paying for a 1 year licence after which you MUST pay again.

I am hoping, this is an oversite? Surely you didnt mean to disable the plugin for everyone who was perfectly happy with things they way they were and thought they were just updating the main codebase?

Why should the regions module break as a result?
Why should PAYPAL break as a result?

    This makes no sense

  • Hi nippi9,

The renewal policy you mentioned is fully outlined here if you’re not sure of what you get with it: https://awpcp.com/module-support/ To be clear, you do NOT have to re-buy the modules, the maintenance fee is 25% of the current price, about $10/module, $60 for the Pro Pack.

As far as upgrading breaking things, that’s unavoidable as we add new features, change the internals of the core plugin to fix bugs and update the modules with new capabilities. We’ve been working on so much stuff (see the Changelog here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/another-wordpress-classifieds-plugin/changelog/), the outcome was unavoidable.

If you don’t want to upgrade, that’s totally fine and doable–all you need to do is downgrade AWPCP to the prior version and your modules will continue to function indefinitely.

But I hope you feel like your premium modules generate reasonable value for the features they add and would be willing to pay a small amount of maintenance to keep that support going. You can contact me directly if you have further questions about it: https://awpcp.com/contact/

Also, how did PayPal exactly break here? That’s part of the core plugin so it should work by itself. Are you seeing some kind of errors?
