Update Broke Site

  • I updated this plugin from 1.1.2 to ver. 1.2 and it crashed my site. Thankfully I had backed it up and was able to restore it. I am running WordPress 5.2 with the Divi theme. I submitted a request to the developer but didn’t get a response. Has anyone else had an issue with the update? I may remove it and try a fresh install… Has anyone else had an issue with installing this on WP 5.2? I really like this plugin so I would be sad if I had to uninstall it, but its not a good practice to have outdated plugins on a site. I welcome any thoughts! ??

    I have tested our plugin’s update with Divi Theme( Version: 3.0.51 ) and no issue occured at my end.
    Please let me know your Divi Theme version, so that I can test with the same version.

    Okay… I’m DONE! I tried updating this plugin once again and CRASH!!! At least with WordPress 5.2.x, you get an email pointing you in the direction of the issue. I have copied it below:

    Needles to say, I have deactivated the plugin and most likely will remove it permanently. I am not a happy camper but it was good while it lasted…. ??

    Hi @techdirect,

    You have created pp_custom_excerpt_length() function inside your theme’s functions.php file.
    We have added this function inside our plugin in the latest version.
    That’s why you are facing this issue.
    Please remove pp_custom_excerpt_length() function from your themes/ChildThemeDivi/functions.php file.
