• I don’t really need help. I got it squared away.

I have everything set to automatically update and I honestly don’t pay enough attention. I just assume things work as they should.

Well, I got a notification that Noptin didn’t update to the newest version and missed it. I only noticed today when I realized it hadn’t sent out email notifications when a new article was published.

I logged in and Noptin was completely missing from my menu – it wasn’t installed and there was an error message that I didn’t write down. Basically, it said that Noptin was disabled.

So, I went to install it. It wouldn’t let me install, as the folder already existed.

I cracked open my FTP client and renamed the folder “newsletter-optin-box” to “newsletter-optin-box.tmp” and then installed it again. This worked and I activated it.

I was pretty happy that all my settings were still there and that my forms were intact. I did need to save the form and delete the cache to get the form to show up again properly.

I have no idea why the update broke things, but it’s possible to recover from it without too much work. I just figured I’d make people aware of this.

So, if it breaks on you, it’s repairable. Just follow those steps and everything should be good. Clearing your cache may be different for you. I use a plugin called NitroPack, along with a script cache and a script cache. So, the process is pretty elaborate for me, and probably not so for you.

    Good luck!

(I’m also use “KGIII” from GitHub, if that helps tie things together as to why I’d care about this enough to post.)
