As the title says, no sidebars are visible once the most recent update is installed.

Hi @opus13i,
Thanks for posting on the forum.
Could you please tell me a bit more in detail what’s the problem you are having so that i can troubleshoot it( Share screenshots of it if you can )?
For screenshots, you can simply provide a link to an image through Google Drive, Dropbox, screencast.com, https://imgur.com/ or other image service. ??
From which Custom Sidebars plugin version have you updated it to which version and how( Manually or Automatically )?
Is your custom sidebars settings on the widgets page changed after updating your sidebar?
Kind Regards,
WPMU DEVmy issue exactly.
I posted a screenshot on my topic: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/no-custom-sidebars-but-plug-in-active?replies=3The theme I am using is Newspaper.
Sorry, I cannot generate screencaps –it is a live site with constant traffic. No time for a broken layout.
I updated the plugin from v2.0 to 2.0.93 and all sidebars disappeared.
All of the plugin settings seemed to be present, but nothing was outputting at all (the widgets were not present in the DOM).I did resolve the situation though –I just used the visibility function in Jetpack.
@ opus13i can you please share a bit more how you resolved this?
what is this function and what does it do?
I do not have Jetpack installed and all my sidebars are gone just like your case
thanks
Hey, sure.
1. Add new plugin > Search > Jetpack
2. Install, and then it will ask you to create a free account. Go ahead and do so.
3. Set up the account, and activate the plugin by giving it permission to access your site.
4. Once that is complete, go to Appearance > Widgets and expand the view for any widget you have.
5. At the bottom you will see a new button there ‘Visibility’. Click that, and you will see how to make a widget visible to the pages/posts/categories you specify.
That’s pretty much it.thanks for your time; I surely know how to install jetpack but the reason why I disabled it at the first place is that I find it a very heavy plug in and it is known to cause other issues…
I will wait for plug in author to reply for this bug. Having to activate another plugin for a plugin to work is not really a solution ??
cheers
Hi @justrunlah,

WPMU DEVHi @opus13i,
Thank you for your reply.
We are troubleshooting the issue so that we can reproduce and fix it.
It’s working fine on our test site so it would be really helpful for us to reproduce it if you can provide more information about the issue like following.
Have you manually or automatically updated the plugin?
Which version of WordPress are you using? Single site or multisite?
Are you using any caching plugin?
Share me your site URL if you can.
In the meanwhile you can just install older version of Custom Sidebars plugin from the following page which was working fine for you.

WPMU DEVHello,
Automatic update of plugin was done
Wp 3.92 Single site
Quick Cache 140725 was installed (I also removed it to test)
I loaded the old version of Custom Sidebars, but nothing changed.Hi,
I′ve got the same issue. The plugin is activated on a few sites of my wordpress multisite 3.92, but I don′t see any custom sidebar menu or any custom sidebars, which I′ve created.
It seems to be broken after an update.
URL: https://www.currywursttest.com/
I got no errors at Chrome console…
Best,
Ben
Hi,
The same as all others above.
I’ve reinstalled the old version (2.0.9) which did the job.
Waiting for a fix.Best regards,
Chrishey guys,
I’ve got the same problem on https://www.styleandthecity.nl. All of my sidebars are MIA. I’ve also lost the option you refer in the screenshots as “screenshot-1.png The WordPress Widgets section is now packed with new features to create and manage your sidebars.”
edit: as done by commenters before me, i’ve installed an earlier version from: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/custom-sidebars/download/ (2.0.7) and this fixed the issue.
regards,
MichelHey guys!
good news: We have finally found the problem and did publish an update right now. You are able to update to 2.0.9.4 and see all your sidebars again!
Due to unpredictable loading-order of plugins the Custom Sidebars plugin was somehow initialized too late and thus was not loaded fully…
In case you have any issues with this please let us know! Otherwise we hope you have fun with the plugin ??
Philipp
Thanks a lot. All seems to work, but where′s the options page of custom sidebar? At Design there′s no options page anymore.
Hi @yoursql719,
In version 2 of the plugin we did a complete re-design of the plugin.
The “Display > Custom Sidebars” page was removed and all plugin functions were integrated into the page “Display > Widgets” to make the plugin easier to use. It has all the same features as it did previously have, but with a much better user interface ??Philipp
