Hi there, my Update button in my Services page was previously greyed out, and my Services page disappeared from my website.

After I read forum comments, I changed contents from Classic Editor to Block Editor, and now the Update button is back. However, my Services page remained inaccessible and will auto redirect to main homepage instead.

I have updated my wordpress, theme and plug-ins. I have also did a Healthcheck to delete all inactive themes & plug-ins. The Jetpack happiness support engineer said this is beyond their domain, asked me to deactivate Simple Website Redirect plug-in, which I did, but issue persisted.

I am using latest version of WordPress 5.8.3 and Astra theme.

Any assistance will be much appreciated! ??

  • Hi there, my Update button in my Services page was previously greyed out, and my Services page disappeared from my website.

It seems your “Services” page is currently set as your site’s homepage.

Kindly check SETTINGS => READING => YOUR HOMEPAGE DISPLAYS and let’s know what page is configured to be displayed on your homepage.

Looking into this further, it seems your “Services” page is merely redirecting to the homepage… seems it’s the “About” page that’s configured as the homepage.

So we need to figure out why the /services/ URL is redirecting to the homepage!

Little things like this, unfortunately, can be extremely difficult to troubleshoot without having direct admin access to the site in question. So please forgive me if I seem to be

    1) First, let’s confirm the permalink (URL) of the “Services” page is indeed /services/ and not something else. Go to PAGES, find your Services page, click on “Quick Edit”, and check the Page Slug. (While you’re here, also confirm that the STATUS of the page is “Published” and the “Private” box is NOT checked.

    2) Go to SETTINGS => PERMALINKS and click on SAVE CHANGES to update your permalinks.

Standing by for feedback to advise on the next troubleshooting steps.

    Hi George,

Thank you for your kind replies. Really appreciate it.

You’re absolutely right. My “Services” page is merely redirecting to the “About Me” page (which is my homepage).

I followed step 1) above. Yes, page slug is shown as “services”, status is “Published”, and private box is not checked. I did step 2) as well. Issue still persists.

This is what the Jetpack happiness support engineer said:
`As far as the Services page being inaccessible, this is because you have a redirect set up on that page. When we attempt to “ping” the page, we get at “HTTP/2 301 Redirect” message, as you can see here:

    $ curl -I https://asha-akashicrecords.com/services/
    HTTP/2 301
    x-redirect-by: WordPress
    location: https://asha-akashicrecords.com/
    date: Tue, 18 Jan 2022 03:51:12 GMT
    server: Apache

This might be from your Simple Website Redirect plugin, so I’d recommend disabling that and testing again. If that does not fix things, I’d share the above findings in the support forum and hopefully someone there will have an idea what could be causing that.

I have deactivated the Simple Website Redirect plugin and issue not solved as well.
