    Hello,

I have an issue with the update cart button.

When I click on update cart button the spinning icon show and nothing happen, error message in the console appear as

Uncaught TypeError: t.addClass(…).block is not a function
    at c (cart.min.js?=1707337936:1:277)
    at Object.quantity_update (cart.min.js?=1707337936:1:7058)
    at Object.cart_submit (cart.min.js?=1707337936:1:5824)
    at HTMLDocument.dispatch (jquery.js:5145:27)
    at elemData.handle (jquery.js:4949:28)

I know that I have an outdated theme that is causing conflict with this functionality, but can’t really change the theme as there are too many customization done on that.

My theme work fine with the woocommerce version 7.7.0, but when updated to 8.5.1 i am having this issue.

Is there a work around to fix this issue without the need to change the theme?

  • Hey there ??

    Thanks for reaching out!

It looks like you’re experiencing an issue with the update cart button, correct?

It’s important to ensure that your theme and WooCommerce version are compatible to avoid these types of conflicts. Have you tried creating a staging environment to see if updating your current theme resolves the issue?

If not, I’d suggest doing this as a first step. This is a clone of your live site where you can make changes, including performing theme/plugin updates without affecting your live site. This can be done using the free?WP Staging?plugin.

If you do make any changes or perform updates on your live site, we always recommend ensuring that you have a good?backup?of your?full site and database?before doing this, so that, should something go wrong, you are able to easily restore your site to a functioning state.

On the other hand, there may be some workarounds to address the issue without changing your theme however we strongly suggest updating the theme since using an outdated theme can pose security risks and may lead to other compatibility issues in the long run:

    1. Disable WooCommerce AJAX Cart Fragments: You can disable AJAX cart fragments in WooCommerce settings to see if it resolves the issue. This can be done under WooCommerce → Settings → Products → General.

    2. Customize Cart and Update Functionality: You might consider customizing the cart and update functionality with the help of a developer to work around the theme conflict.

    3. Developer support: You can look at hiring a developer to perform the update for you, with minimal affect on your sites current customizations. Codeable.io may be a good starting point.

On the other hand, if you’re open to exploring alternative themes, feel free to check out the available themes on Woo.com here:

Woo.com offers a?30-day refund policy?which you can take advantage of, allowing you to test the theme, and make sure that it suits your needs.
