    Hi there,

Thank you for such a great plugin. One of our main goals is to allow our existing wordpress users to be able to update their CC numbers in Stripe. Based on some old threads in this support forum we understand that your plugin updates customer records if the email address of the wp user and email address of the customer in stripe match.

So far we have done a few tests, however every time we use the update CC, we end up with a new customer record in stripe, instead of an updated one.

Our customer records in Stripe are created via various different APIs but all eventually end up with an account on our membership site and we were hoping that if the email matchign works, our logged in users will be able to update their CC information. Especially for the ones that are on a subscription plan on Stripe and the CC has expired or been changed.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello @svetoslavd79,

Thank you for using Direct Stripe.

I’m sorry about that, new users are always created in test mode, that means the Update card button type is not working in test mode.

Could you try to test the update card button type in live mode ?

    Best wishes,

    Hi Nicholas,

Thank you for the prompt reply. We actually used the live mode and performed tests on real customer accounts.

We could also see that the Stripe popup recognizes the email address of the logged in user, yet a new customer record was created in Stripe.

Thanks again for looking into this.

    Kind Regards

    Hello @svetoslavd79,

Thank you for noticing that issue, I found that a new user was created when the option to prevent users to being stored in WordPress was used.

I pushed an update to 2.1.11 that fixes this issue, please update and let me know how that goes.

    Best wishes

    Hi Nicholas,

Thank you for your response and looking into this. While your plugin is great, we did some more research and found out that we would not be able to achieve what we wanted.

Because our customers are created via various 3rd party systems, it seems that we have multiple customer accounts in stripe with the same email address. That in itself means that we can not match customers solely based on email address.

Thanks again for all your help and a Happy New Year
