• I run 4.4.2 and have Flat Responsive as my theme. In the last couple of days I am getting an error message for the following plug ins when I try to update to the most recent version:

    1. GoogleMaps (this one deleted itself completely because they’ve replaced the version I had with a new plug in all together, but I get the same “could not copy file” error message when trying to install the new plug in)
    2. SiteOrigins Widget Bundle
    3. The Events Calendar
    4. WP Mobile Touch

I have contacted our hosting company and they have double checked the PHP version they run and the permissions – all look good. I have tried deleting the upgrade folder via FTP and created a new directory with permission 777 per some other forum posts on similar issues. The problem persists!!

Translations update successfully with no issues and I have not needed to update WordPress version or the theme so I don’t know if the issue extends to them as well.

Please help! I’m a novice at best and am not sure what to try next.

A new error message: a google maps widget deleted itself in the process of updating because of the could not copy file message. I uploaded a newer similar plug in and just tried to activate it. This is the message I got:

Warning: require_once(/var/www/vhosts/memorycare.org/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wp-google-map-plugin/core/class.map-widget.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/vhosts/memorycare.org/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wp-google-map-plugin/wp-google-map-plugin.php on line 701 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/var/www/vhosts/memorycare.org/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wp-google-map-plugin/core/class.map-widget.php’ (include_path=’.:’) in /var/www/vhosts/memorycare.org/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wp-google-map-plugin/wp-google-map-plugin.php on line 701

Also, Akismet updated successfully this morning (it wasn’t activated), but still the plug ins above give the same error message.
