• I just tried to update to the latest version.

For some reason.. it did NOT UPDATE… and during the update it looks like it crashed.
I can not reach my WORD-PRESS DASHBOARD, nor my website.

Please help.. I am a rookie and do NOT KNOW what to do !

Should I connect via FTP and delete the Plugins Folder ?
Or upload the Plugin with the latest version through FTP ?

Where can I even download the latest up to date version.

thank you so much for any little help !

  • Can confirm the same thing. I updated and it wouldn’t let me upload images – Host said it was maxing out my RAM… but we later found out that W3 Total Cache was locking up the site.

Disabled the plugin and related files (object cache db or something)… and my site works again.

how can you disable the plugin, if I can not reach my Dashboard anymore ?
Simple deleting the Plugins Folder through FTP ?

Run a backup of the site first before you do anything else. If you are using cPanel, you can use the Backup Wizard. Otherwise it will be dependant on whatever control panel you have. After that:

Don’t delete the plugins directory, just delete the w3-total-cache directory located in the plugins directory. So it would look like this:

    /wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/

When you kill that, the WordPress dashboard will start freaking out because the three files W3 Total Cache adds to /wp-content/ are still there:

    advanced-cache.php
    db.php
    object-cache.php

Get rid of those also. After that, reinstall W3 Total Cache.
