I sent in a ticket via the premium support area for wordpress bug figured I would try here in case anyone else experienced this.

We recently updated to version 6.2, as well as the premium version. As soon as we updated our CPU usage went from 12% to 40% and had to ramp up another server to handle the usage (we’re on a load balanced setup so luckily the servers were able to stay up and not crash) – network in stats went from 124MB to 3GB instantly. We reverted the plugin imidiately but the problem was still there, even tried to downgrade to the free version thinking that the premium version just kept some kind of real-time scan going constantly that we couldn’t turn off.

Doing some research, I noticed that there used to be a feature that allowed you to disable the config cache – because there are some settings in wordfence that never seemed to save (mainly turning off the firewall), thought maybe that would help. In the end we upgraded again and turned on the premium version but can’t find that setting anywhere, so was unable to test that theory.

We deactivated the plugin/reactivated and can confirm that this is the plugin causing the issue. We eventually turned off ALL of the scan features for the time being and that has helped a bit however CPU usage/network in is still way up from what it was prior to updating.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any help/ideas would be very helpful – love this plugin and prior to this we’ve never had any issues with it.

    Thanks
