We are seeing the following error on all of our sites when updating to 5.2.1 using ManageWP:

All In One WP Security (5.2.0 -> 5.2.1): get_class(): Argument #1 ($object) must be of type object, null given occurred in wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-wp-security-and-firewall/classes/wp-security-utility.php on line 817

Is there a solution for this?

    Thank you!!

    Hi,

Interesting, I’ll try to reproduce that now and get a fix in for the next release.

How did you upgrade from 5.1.9 to 5.2.0?

The line that the error is coming from changed in 5.2.0.

I also assume that if you manually updated to 5.2.1 (not via ManageWP) you won’t get the error.

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley

Thank you, Ashley! We would’ve upgraded from 5.1.9 to 5.2.0 via ManageWP. I just manually updating from within the WordPress dashboard and that worked great.

    Thank you again!

I’m not sure if this helps at all, but I’m seeing a similar error for other plugins. This error was received this morning for the Formidable Forms plugin:

Formidable Forms (6.3.2 -> 6.4): get_class(): Argument #1 ($object) must be of type object, null given occurred in wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-wp-security-and-firewall/classes/wp-security-utility.php on line 817

I got the same error on two sites that are on separate hosting sites. Again, when I logged into the dashboards directly, the plugins updated fine!

    Thank you!

same here for all our the plugin updates including wordpress translations updates or theme updates for all your websites, which have all in one wp security 5.2.1 activated and we update them over managewp. looks like that function on 817 passes back an invalid value which triggers the error handling of managewp during an update.

Dear Ashley, we can confirm that this developer version fixes the issue.

Looking forward to the released version.

Thank you for the fix and fast response on this.

    Hello @aporter,

when will this issue finally be fixed?

I know that the plugin is available in the latest version for manual installation. However, we use it on 120+ websites and actually always update via manageWP. This would be a huge hassle for us.

Please let me know shortly. Thanks & best regards,
    Manuel

Thank you. We are still seeing errors.

All In One WP Security (5.2.1 -> 5.2.2): get_class(): Argument #1 ($object) must be of type object, null given occurred in wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-wp-security-and-firewall/classes/wp-security-utility.php on line 817

@jquinn33 first you need to update to 5.2.2. (on that update you will see the old error as 5.2.1 was still there). The following updates will then be OK.
