I updated the Recurring Donations plug-in and I received an error that I need to be running Give 1.8.19+. I am currently running 1.8.17. The Give plug-in doesn’t have an option to update it. I’m afraid to delete it and reinstall. I don’t want to lose my data or my configuration. How do I update it?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

Give version 1.8.19 was released approximately 10 days ago, and we just released version 2.0 yesterday. If you don’t see the update then your server is not communicating with www.ads-software.com effectively. Or, try going to “Dashboard > Updates” and click on the “Try Again” button.

After you update to Give 2.0, note that there is database updates available. You’ll see a notice in “Donations > Updates”. Run those and all will be well.

If you have specific questions about Recurring Donations or any of our premium Add-ons, please reach out to our Priority Support here:

    Thanks!

I went to Dashboard>Updates and pressed Check Again. It’s still not finding it. I have updates listed from other plug-ins. Any suggestions?

Also, I can’t submit a request for priority support. I fill out the form, press submit and the page freezes. I’ve tried this in Edge, Chrome and Explorer. Is there a setting that causing a problem?

HI @mndodger — if you don’t see the update for Give 2.0 then here’s what I suggest:

    1) Go to “Plugins > Add New” and search for “WP Rollback”, install and activate that
    2) Go to “Plugins” and at the Give plugin you’ll now see a link that says “Rollback”. Click that
    3) You’ll see a screen listing all the possible versions available. Select version 1.8.19 and hit “Rollback” — you’ll see a popup about doing a database backup, we always HIGHLY recommend doing that.
    4) Once Give is updated to 1.8.19 using Rollback, go to “Donations > Updates” and run the database updates there.
    5) Double-check your forms and settings and make sure all is well
    6) Go to “Plugins” and see that Give 2.0 is available, and update as normal
    7) Go to “Donations > Updates” and run the new database updates
    8) Confirm that all is well with your forms and settings and donations.

Again, make sure you have a full-site backup before doing all of this. It sounds to me like something got corrupted in one of your Give updates that’s being problematic. The steps above should resolve that completely.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

I installed Rollback and updated Give to 1.8.19 and ran the database updates. I’m not getting the option under Plugins to update Give. I’m not sure why.

It is safe to use rollback to update to 2.0?

Yes it is. Just after you do that, do the DB updates again. Let me know how that goes.

That worked. It looks like all is well. Thanks.

Awesome, glad to hear, and happy to help!

WP Rollback is also a free plugin that we created. If you’re enjoying Give and WP Rollback, we’d love kind reviews from you on both!
