I have rolled back to 1.2.7 and it is now working again.
Beware about updating to 1.2.8 if your site relies on this plugin.

When did you download the 1.2.8?

There’s been a short period the package was incomplete. You could try updating now; if you still have problems please try to describe your issue with more details. I tested it on different web servers and it worked fine.

I have tried updating again to 1.2.8 using the automatic update feature ten minutes ago, but once again it has broken the plugin on Chrome.
The plugin is still rendering the “player” on the pages properly, but pressing the triangular “play” button does absolutely nothing at all. The media file just does not play. However it worked completely fine with version 1.2.7
I will have to roll back to 1.2.7 again as my site is aimed at children who cannot read and they need the play buttons working.
I have tested it with Chrome (up-to-date) and it does not work (after clearing the cache etc still not playing)
I have tested it with IE 10 and it DOES work fine. But I need something stable on all browsers so will go back to 1.2.7 for now I guess.

    Hi

I updated to the 1.2.9 a few days ago and it doesn’t seem to work now. I can’t open any of the samples of music which are uploaded and were working fine before on the previous plugin. I think I shall have to go back to the one I was using before too. Any suggestions? i’m not very techie so don’t quite know what to do now.

    Hi Anita,
Don’t worry it is relatively easy to go back to an older version.
I too have found that even 1.2.9 does not work with the Chrome browser. Version 1.2.7 does work so that is the one I am now using again.
Here are instructions on going back to that version…

    • visit https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-miniaudioplayer/developers/ and scroll down a bit to see the “Other Versions”.
    • Select the version 1.2.7 and save the zip file somewhere you will remember
    • On your own wordpress blog go to the Plugins page.
Deactivate the current version of the player
    • Then delete the files for the current version
    • Now click the “Upload” button on the plugins page
    • Upload the whole zip file you downloaded earlier
    • Activate the plugin

I hope that works for you.

thank you so much for that I think I should be able to do that okay. I really appreciate your help. I am using Mozilla firefox as my main browser as I didn’t like chrome when it came out. It looks as though the last version I was using was 0.9.8 so I have skipped a couple of updates by the looks of it. But once again thanks for your help.
    Kind regards

    Hi Anita,
Can you describe what was the problem with the 1.2.9 version?
    Bye,
    M

    Hi Matteo,

I updated to the 1.2.9 version and then nothing would work. I couldn’t open the tracks which I had already on my page. I tried reloading the plug in and then refreshing the page several times but it still wouldn’t open. I then tried uploading another track to see if that would work but it was the same as the others and wouldn’t open at all just like the others. I don’t use Chrome I use Mozilla firefox as a browser. I have now downloaded the previous version 1.2.7 and this worked again when i loaded up a new track, but still doesn’t work with the tracks that are already there. If you try it the new track I uploaded with the previous version is the one right at the top and the old tracks which had been uploaded and were there when I updated still don’t work. Strangely someone else logged onto my site at https://www.keyactions.com/music and said that it worked for them and they were using Chrome so I am not sure what is happening.

    Kind regards
    Anita

    Hi Anita,
I tested the page with Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari and all the players are working fine on all the browsers…
Couldn’t it be a cache problem for you?
Did you try with a different browser than FF?

P.S.: you should reduce the width of the players as they break the layout when opened :-).

    Let me know,
    Bye,
    Matteo
