Hi, I have learned on this forum (thank you!), that I have to reduce the file size of my WP installation.

Looking at my space, I have realized, that all imported images have been saved multiple times in different sizes and I uploaded them without any compression (stupid!)

Now I want to replace the existing images with a smaller version without re-importing everything. I thought, I can just overwrite the files in the content folder, but the media gallery still shows the old versions with the larger filesize. Also there is a dedicated version of each file for the media gallery called “picture xyz-scaled.jpg”. I don’t need that version. I only want the new small image to be referenced in the gallery.

    How can I do this?

    Thanks,
    Michael
