• Hello everybody,
    that’s my problem.

I have a WP blog with standard categories and tagcloud widgets showing in the sidebars.

If I write a normal (not future dated) post containing new tags and/or as the first post belonging to a new category, the two widget are updated to reflect the new tags and category.
If the same post has a future timestamp, at the specified time it is published on the blog but the two widget are not updated, i.e. the new tags and category are not shown in the sidebar widgets.

Does anybody had the same experience?
Is there any way to fix this behaviour?

    Thanks in advance
    Stefano

  • I think this is reported on Trac Ticket 4913.

This is not exactly what I was experiencing. I was not printing the count of posts so I don’t know if it is correct or not.
The fact is that if I have an empty category and I write a post belonging to it with a future timestamp the category is not shown in the widget neither before the publication time (I think the count is 0) nor after it (I think the count should be 1)

Well for now I’m not seeing the problem you are having nor am I seeing the problem reported to Trac by Otto.

For the Category Widget can you tell me what parameters you have checked:
    # Show as dropdown
    # Show post counts
    # Show hierarchy
    # Display as a drop down

    Thanks.

I did not selected any of the options, I simply needed the list of categories (… obviously with at least 1 associated post).

I can give you an additional hint.
After editing and saving the (only) post belonging to the category (after the publication date) the list of the category widget was updated by wordpress and the category is now displayed.

Thanks for that hint sspelta. I can duplicate that and I’ve added a comment to the Trac Ticket 4913.

I’m happy to have been useful to WordPress.
I read your comment on the Trac Ticket but I’m not expert enough on WordPress “inside” to be able to fully understand your explanation.
Did I undertstand well that this is an incorrect behaviour and it will be fixed in the next releases?

    thanks
