    Hi all,
Ok so I’ll update to 4.1 here in a bit, and maybe that’ll resolve the issue but I don’t know. The problem I’m having is that whenever I try to update Jetpack, it stays in maintainance mode for like 10 minutes before granting me access to the rest of my site. Then on every page, it says “an automated WordPress update has failed to install. Please attempt the update again now.” However, when I check for updates, there’s no update and there’s a 0 in the number of updates. When I update another plugin, the message about an update failing goes away. How do I get the update message to go away right away and how do I get Jetpack to update with the same speed as my other plugins?

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Jetpack’s plugin zip file is big, so if your hosting provider offers you limited resources the update might fail because of the size of the file.

That problem will be solved soon, as WordPress will soon support language packs for plugins. When that happens, we will remove all language files from Jetpack’s plugin folder, thus making the plugin folder a lot smaller. Folks using WordPress in another language will still get custom language files, but only those linked to their language.

In the meantime, I’m afraid there is no real work-around. You could try to delete the Jetpack plugin and install the new version via Plugins > Add new > Upload instead, that might work around your server limitations. If that doesn’t work either, a manual upload via FTP is your only solution I’m afraid.

Ok, I’m not sure if that answers my question though. This also happened with the core WordPress update last night. The update itself isn’t failing, but there’s this annoying note on every backend page of my site that says it has. It al takes a long time to update, muchlonger than any of the other plugins or themes I have running. Does this still sound like a resource issue?

It could be, yes. Since it happens with WordPress Core as well, and not just with a specific plugin, it could be caused by some resource limitations with your host.

It might be worth trying with a fresh installation of WordPress on the same server, with no other customizations or plugins. If you continue to experience the same issue, you’ll know that the problem is most likely caused by your server configuration.

Great, thanks. I’ll ask over in the support forums on my host to see if anyone else is having issues. Oh and sorry Jan, I wasn’t sure if this topic would still be watched since it was marked resolved.
