Update nag won't go away when I install in language other than English

  • I installed 4.0 in French. When I login I see “WordPress 4.0 is available! Please update now.” (it’s in French, of course).

    Sometimes the nag won’t appear unless/until I switch back and forth between English and the other language.

    Regardless, when it does appear, no matter how many times I update the nag stays there UNTIL I switch to English and update yet again. Then the nag goes away.

    However, when I switch back to French the nag reappears (sometimes I have to click “Check Again” for it to reappear but sometimes not) and I can’t get rid of it without switching back to English and updating again.

    This isn’t just a “French thing” either. This happens if I install in any language but English. Does anyone have a fix for this? Has anybody else seen it for that matter?

    Actually, I switch to English and click “Check Again” to make the nag go away (I don’t have to actually update).

    But as I said before, the nag won’t go away without switching back to English.

    Nobody else has seen this>?

    I have the exact same problem. The update message keeps popping up, when I go to the updates screen it disappears, only to reappear again.

    I should say that, at least in my case, an administrator account is being used by more than one person. Could this be the cause of the problem or not really ? bsmithatwp, do you have the same situation or not at all ?

    I don’t have multiple admins.

    FYI, this bug is being worked on now by the developers. You can follow their progress from https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/29633 (they marked my report a duplicate so follow the link from my report to the original).

    It was announced over a week ago they had a fix on the API side but it hasn’t been rolled out for some reason…maybe soon.
