Update not working

  • I am trying the auto update, I got the FTP and password correct finally, so now it does not give me a connection error, but now it just sits there, I left it alone for 30+ minutes and when I returned it was still sitting there trying to load, when I just hit F5 to refresh the page it said it failed and to please try again.

    I installed this through Fantastico in Cpanel because the wordpress in Cpanel’s Addon programs was not as current as 3.0.3

    could it be because of the install through Fantastico that it is failing to upgrade?
    If you know a reason, please do not hesitate to share it with me.

  • Hi Richard, sometimes the auto update has a problem on certain hosts. It’s a great feature but when all else fails, the easiest way to do an update is to use the download button (top right) and then FTP the files into place.

    If your site is locked in maintenance mode (this happens sometimes), delete the .maintenance file while you’re in there.

    So, having it installed through Fantastico then upgrading it manually will not hurt the installation?

    What if Fantastico then gets the update then I use Fantastico to do the update, since it would already be updated, could it break something?
