Unfortunately, upon removing lines 174-178 I get

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/64/5879764/html/wp/wp-content/themes/voltata/inc/gallery-styling.php on line 2

    Pardon to bother you.

    Hello again,

    No problem at all ??

Isn’t that the same error as here, which you got after updating to 1.1.2?

Try replacing that file with the 1.0.9 version again found here. If you’re not using the gallery slider at all you could simply out comment line 268 in functions.php (add // in front of that line).

Please write again if any other error occurs.

    Kind regards,
    Simon

Just ran the latest update, and now my site is completely gone. Do you have an older version of the theme that I can download and re-install as a stopgap? I don’t have time to crack open the code at the moment so I am looking for a temp fix.

The site is DailyCurator.net in case you’re curious.

    Hello nycwriter,

I’m sorry to hear that! You can download the old version here.

Please return with more information regarding what version of WordPress you are running as well as plugin information.

Your site seems to be working now, but if you encounter any other issues, please create a new ticket ??

    Kind regards,
    Simon

It’s the latest version of WordPress. The site is working again because I ftp’d in and overwrote your latest update with 1.1.2. The new version does not work at all.

Commented out lines 174-178 of template-tags.php of version 1.2.0 then overwrote version 1.2.0 gallery-styling.php with version 1.0.9.

Seems to work although I did seem to loose CSS (link color). I think that should be fairly easy to fix.

Yes, the gallery-styling.php was a prior issue. Good catch.

I had this problem with your theme today and someone else just posted. Can you please either fix it or remove it from wordpress until it’s fixed. A lot of near nervous breakdowns happening because of it.

    Hello all again,

I’ve uploaded a version 1.2.1 fixing the white screen issue, please return here again if the issue persists or new one arises and i’ll do my best to assist.

And, to markcoomes, i will figure out a solution to having to outcomment the gallery-styling.php every time you update. But for now i haven’t had time to come up with anything.

Sorry for all the stress and worries this issue caused. It was an error i hadn’t taken into account. Thanks for the feedback and for using Voltata.

Again, please return if you encounter other issues or errors.

    Kind regards,
    Simon

Just tried to update, again. Experienced the same “blank screen” crash, had the same nervous breakdown, had to do the same repair (revert to 1.1.2).

Agree with sacadmin1, would you consider just removing the updates until these problems are fixed? This is two time-consuming crashes in two days now. Thanks.

    Hello again,

That would be a solution, but so far only you and sacadmin1 is experiencing this issue. I’ve tested uploading the theme myself to an older WordPress installation aswell as the newest without getting this issue after I updated to 1.2.1.

I need to get a little more information from you guys before I can figure out where the issue stems from. I made a lot of changes from 1.1.3->1.2.1.

If you could provide a little more info about what plugins you are using that would be really helpful, sometimes themes and plugins collide causing different varieties of errors ??

    Kind regards,
    Simon

    Hello again,

When you update, are you still able to access the control panel of your site and are you getting any error messages on the front end or is it just a blank page?

If you are getting blank front page, but is still able to access the control panel, try disabling 1 plugin at a time to figure out, if and which, plugin might or might not, be causing the error. This is usually the first thing you should do when you encounter a situation like this.

    Kind regards,
    Simon
